Wolfgang “Wolfie” Entensperger, 87 of Sarasota

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving Father, Opa & Great Opa, Wolfgang Josef Entensperger; known as “Wolfie” by all who knew and loved him.  Dad passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family and was reunited with his beautiful bride of 50 yrs Karin Entensperger, on Sunday, December 29th, 2024.

Wolfgang was born to Katharina & Peter Entensperger on March 18th, 1937 in Hamburg, Germany.  He later immigrated to America in 1959 where he would proudly serve in the United States Army and go on to becoming one of the Proudest American Citizens we’d ever known. Dad used his incredible talents in photography as the Historian of the American Legion Glenn Peters Post #266 in Sarasota, where he was a proud member and held that position for many, many years. The love and pride he had for this country was second to none! 

Wolfie, as he was so lovingly called, is survived by his loving children Elke Olree and Marc Entensperger; along with his proud son in law, Brian Olree, loving grandsons Kyle and Dylan Olree and Great Grandsons, Brandt and Blane Olree, along with many extended family who love and miss him dearly.

Services will be held with Military Honors at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 St. Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241) on Friday, February 7th 2025 at promptly at 1:00pm and a Celebration of Life will take place for family & friends on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 from 1:00-3:30pm at the American Legion, Glenn Peters Post 266, (5201 Richardson Rd. Sarasota, FL 34232). Please join us for a time of fellowship and sharing the many memories of Wolfie, our beloved Dad!
