Scott Eugene Hughes

Scott Eugene Hughes, age 69, of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. 

Born on 12/29/55 in Virginia, Scott proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated four years of honorable service. His time in the Air Force left a lasting impression, and he carried that pride and patriotism throughout his life.

He was a loving husband, avid golfer and passionate supporter of the Tampa Bay sports teams the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays.

He is survived by: his wife of 28 years, Laurie Hughes; daughter Tiffany Gammaro; grandson Teak Gammaro; mother Patricia Hughes; brothers Steven Hughes and Michael Hughes and preceded in death by his father James Hughes II and his oldest brother James Hughes III.

A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 SR-72 Sarasota, FL 34241. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Loyal Order of Moose 1761 17th Street Sarasota, FL 34234. All who knew and loved Scott and Laurie are welcome to join the family in remembering his remarkable life, sharing stories, and honoring his memory in the way he would have wanted—with laughter, connection, and love.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Children Of The Moose” at the Celebration of Life described above.
