April 14, 1935 ~ December 28, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Peter J. Harrington of Port Charlotte, FL, died on December 29 at the age of 88 after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, MA in 1935 to the late Byrne and Adelaide Harrington. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Anastasia and his sister Paula Carroll of Scituate, MA and is survived by his brother David (Rosemarie) of Clyde, NC.
Peter was a graduate of Northeastern University with an MA from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute (now part of NYU). He was a veteran of the US Army (1st LT). An engineer like his father before him, he spent his career in the aerospace industry with Northrop Grumman. He worked on three Apollo missions (1, 2, and 13) and the F-14 Tomcat. In retirement he devoted much time to refurbishing used computers for families in need.
Peter is survived by his daughter Melissa of Arizona and his grandchildren in Nevada: Ryosuke (Roy) Harrington (Haruko Kurosawa), D’Andrew (Nikki) Harrington,
Anthony Harrington, and Annalea Harrington White. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and generations of cousins. All remember his genial smile, gentle manners, and bear hugs.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by All Veterans-All Families Funerals and Cremations of Sarasota. The services will be private.
He will be buried in the Sarasota National Cemetery, next to his beloved wife.
