Pete passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 at Tidewell Hospice as a result of respiratory and kidney challenges.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois and spent most of his life there. Pete served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He was a SGT in administration from September 1961 to August 1964. Pete was a graduate of Roosevelt University, where he received a degree in Accounting. He then worked for CNA Insurance Companies as a manager in the Actuarial division, AVP of Group Administration and Systems and finally AVP of the Mass Marketing Division. Pete retired in 1994 after 28 years.
Pete met his wife Jan in the Actuarial Division in December 1973. They married in 1977 and lived out the saying that the best thing to hold onto in life is each other. They spent their retirement years traveling and moving from Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas to Springfield, Missouri and finally settling in sunny Bradenton, Florida.
For the last 12 years, Pete enjoyed being a gym rat at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA where he became friends with a number of great people who admired him for his character, personality and commitment to health and wellness. He was still spinning as recently as April.
Pete is survived by his wife Jan, daughter Samantha, and his grandchildren Noa and Judah.
Memorial donations in Pete’s honor can be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
