Nancy Carlin-Liner Obituary

Nancy Lou Carlin-Liner, 85, of Venice, FL passed on Wednesday May 7, 2025. 
Nancy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and was adopted by Anna A. and Joe E. Cannon
of Decatur, Illinois. While in school, she sang with the award-winning vocal group, The
Modernaires. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1957, and attended Southern
Illinois University, studying science and biology. In 1962, Nancy earned her degree in
Registered Nursing from Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis.

Nancy met Thomas Carlin in 1963, they married in 1964, and settled in Webster
Groves, Mo. They welcomed their children, Barbara in 1965, and Catherine in 1966. In
1972, they moved to Garland, Texas. 

At a Halloween party in 1989, Nancy met Luther Liner, and they married on May 8,
1993. They both loved Florida and decided to retire there. Nancy and Luther moved to
Nokomis in 1998, and later to Venice, where they were long-term members of the
Venice Yacht Club.  Each year they would host their friends at their home on the water
for the annual Venice Boat Parade. They were also members of the Monday Night
Dinner Club, where they met many great friends.

Nancy spent most of her life involved with different women's organizations and was past
president of both the Garland Newcomers Club and Venice and Nokomis Women’s
Club.

Her greatest passions in life were traveling and the game of bridge.  Among her favorite
places to visit were Italy, Portugal, Spain, Hawaii, Africa, and Greece. She also loved
the arts, music, classic films, milk chocolate and Mexican food.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 32 years Luther Liner; daughter Barbara Carlin,
her partner Mark Reeder; daughter Catherine Henigan, her husband David Henigan;
granddaughters Anna Holbert, and Riley Henigan; great grandchildren Lilliana Kaya
Grace Mims, and Liam Powers; nephews Michael Carlin and Peter Carlin; Son-in-law
Jon Michael Liner, his former wife, Shannon Baldridge, and granddaughter-in-law
Alexandria Skye Liner; daughter-in-law Kimberly Ann Schrimpf (Liner) and  her
husband, Karl Schrimpf.
