Marshall DuBois Obituary

Marshall Kellen Dubois, 83, of Sarasota passed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, December 26. 2025

Although Marshall was born in New Jersey, he claimed Sarasota, Florida as his home for nearly his entire life. He attended Southside and Phillipi Shores Schools and was a 1960 graduate of Sarasota High School. He attended Manatee Junior College (now SCF) and Old Dominion College.

Marshall was a proud sailor in the United States Navy (SH2 1962-68) who served aboard the USS RICH (DD820). In the 1990's he became involved in the USS RICH Association where he chaired the Reunion Committee, and was Webmaster and Editor of the 820 Newsletter for over 20 years.

In the mid 1980's he became a member of the Sarasota Technology Users Group (formerly Sarasota PC Users Group) serving in various capacities as Instructor, Help Desk and Webmaster.

Marshall founded and operated Basic Software, Inc., a small, personalized technology provider for the West Coast of Florida from 1983 until his retirement in 2007.

Marshall is survived by daughter Shellie Jacobs (Michael) of Sarasota, son Joseph T Ayres of Prescott, AZ, granddaughter Amanda Stafford Hall (Daniel) of Ahoskie, NC, granddaughter Jessica Stafford Langham (David) of Greensboro, NC, niece Debbie Patterson of Chesapeake, VA, Lisa DuBois Snead (Randy) of Drakes Branch, VA cousin Gary Stires (Carole) of Cheyenne WY, and three great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his bride of 33 years, Iris Powell DuBois, mother, Emma Dubois Annis, father F. Gilbert DuBois, brother, Ronald C. DuBois, daughter Sherrie Powell Stafford, daughter Marina Kay Powell, son Jeffrey J. Ayres, niece Sherrie DuBois, niece Lora DuBois, and cousin David Stires.

Memorials may be sent to TideWell Hospice of Sarasota, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL at 11:30 am. He will be co-interred with the love of his life, Iris.
