James Frank "Jay" Record, age 76, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Port Charlotte, Florida. Born on October 16, 1948, in Long Beach, California.
A veteran of the Army, Jay proudly served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War, embodying the value of courage and commitment that define our nations service members a chapter of his life that remained a lasting source of pride.
A devoted enthusiast of classic cars, Jay possessed an uncanny ability to identify the year and make of vintage cars with ease. His mechanical skills extended beyond cars to bicycles, which he fixed and maintained with meticulous care. He was also a volunteer
Firefighter for 10 yrs in Houston, Texas. He always wanted to help in any way he could.
Travel was one of Jay's greatest joys, especially the adventures he shared with his beloved wife of 50 years, Wilma. Together, they explored new places and created treasured memories. He also loved spending time with his family and making memories with them.
Jay is survived by his loving wife, Wilma; daughters Amber Michelle Record and Erika Rae Flanagan; son- in-law Patrick Flanagan; and granddaughters Lauren Katheryn Ferrone and Sara Jean Waterman. His older brother, Jack Record as well as all of his extended family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who
knew him.
Remembered for his happy-go-lucky spirit and generous heart, Jay brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and joyful memories.
A service to honor Jay's life will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. His legacy of bravery and love will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
