Harry Richard Kenyon

 Harry Richard (“Rich”) Kenyon: 1933 - 2024

Rich Kenyon, Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024.  Rich was born on October 28, 1933, on Sage Lake, in Lupton, Michigan to parents Harry F. and Enid M. Kenyon.

After a summer job as a surveying assistant, Rich found his passion. His dream was to build bridges, roads, and buildings. After high school graduation he served in the United States Coast Guard on duty in the Great Lakes. Rich was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. At the time of his discharge, he took advantage of the GI Bill, enrolling at Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. 

First employment in Wisconsin was a bitter winter with an opportunity to relocate to Florida and form his company Kenyon, Inc. designing commercial buildings in and around Tampa. In 1977, Anthony Rossi, founder of Tropicana Products, hired Rich as the company’s Professional Engineer/Licensed Contractor to design and maintain on site facilities. Rich contributed significantly to the in-house projects at Tropicana until his retirement in 1992. 

 Rich's engineering stamp or seal on a project came with his creed: To give the utmost of performance; To participate in none but honest enterprise; To live and work according to the laws of man and the highest standards of professional conduct; To place service before profit, the honor and standing of the profession before personal advantage, and the public welfare above all other considerations. 

Upon retiring from Tropicana, Rich joined his wife, Geri as a real estate Broker of  Kenyon Real Estate. He was a member of the Realtor Associations of Sarasota and Manatee County (RASM). 

Rich is remembered by all as a gentleman of integrity, kindness, generosity and leaves a legacy of love and compassion, for his family and friends. Rich is survived by the love of his life, Geri, sons Timothy Kenyon (Pamela), Brian Kenyon (Jagie); and daughter Leah (Jackie) a sister, Sally Horton, brother Charles Kenyon (Ann) and a large extended family of cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children. 

A Korean War veteran, Rich will be honored with a Military service, details below:
