It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon L. Silver. He passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025 with his family by his side.
Gordon was born May 2, 1943 at his home in Garden City, Michigan to Harold and Virginia Silver. He participated in many athletic teams in high school including baseball.
Gordon proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.Midway from 1961-1965 where he was also a member of the Navy traveling baseball team.
He was a skilled electrician by trade and worked for General Motors until his retirement. Aside from being an electrician Gordon was handy with woodworking and throughout his life was creative with many of his projects.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Elizabeth Silver, his daughters Sundae Silver (Stuart) and Cinamon Good (Ted), 4 grandsons, Austin and Braun (Ashley) Paynter and Tyme (Sol) and Fynn Good. Great granddaughter Rebecca.
Preceded in death by step son Charles B. Hall.
After retirement Gordon and Liz moved to Bradenton, FL where they enjoyed spending time at the beach with their dogs who brought them great joy. Surrounded by caring and amazing neighbors who shared such kindness and support throughout the years. Gordon was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his friends and family.
“Gordy” as he was known to his friends was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed by his friends, family and his dogs Sydne and Oliver.
Those who knew him well will miss his unfiltered and often surprising commentary—it was just part of his charm but his real legacy was a soft heart and a deep love for his wife and family, who meant everything to him.
In accordance to his wishes there will be no service. He will be laid to rest at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.
