George "Jinks" David Augustine

It is with deep sadness and immense love that we say goodbye to George "Jinks" David Augustine, who passed away suddenly at his home in Sarasota, Florida, on May 21, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on July 21, 1947, in California, George grew up in the city of Bell with his parents, John and Louise Augustine, and later with his stepmother, Maryanne Augustine. From a young age, he showed a strong sense of duty and honor. At just 18, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army and becoming a tank commander during the Vietnam War.

During his service, he was wounded in combat and lost his left eye—a sacrifice for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. Yet, Jinks never let hardship define him. With strength, resilience, and determination, he built a full and beautiful life. He started his own business, provided for his family, and lived each day with humor, love, and purpose.

George was outrageously funny, sharp-witted, and endlessly kind. He had a unique way of bringing joy and laughter into every room he entered. His spirit was unbreakable, and his presence was magnetic.

He was a proud Vietnam veteran, a hero, a devoted partner, and an incredible father. He leaves behind Lisa Ledwith, the love of his life and partner, whom he loved unconditionally and wholeheartedly. He is also survived by his beloved children—daughters Karen and Lisa, stepdaughter Angel, and stepson Michael. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: grandson Dane, and step-grandchildren Danielle, Sarah and Brandon.

To know him was to know joy, strength, and generosity. He gave endlessly, loved deeply, and inspired those around him with his warmth and courage.

George is now at peace and resting after a lifetime of love, hard work, and dedication. While we will miss him deeply, we take comfort knowing he is free from pain and surrounded by the peace he earned. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
