Elizabeth Gibson

Elizabeth (Monty) Gibson passed on 20 Aug 2024 of a heart attack at the ripe old age of 89.
Monty was born on March 27, 1935 to James H and Vashti K Montogomery in Farmington, NC. She was
preceded in death by her husband David P (Dave) who passed in Jan 2022.

Monty left Farmington soon after completing nursing school to marry David in 1955 and became the
spouse of an Air Force Officer. Wherever the Air Force assigned Dave, Monte found work as a nurse and
raised her three boys, David, Scott, and Todd. Monty did segway into Dave’s flying career when she
became a flight attendant at American Airlines.

Monty loved people. She was always taking care of somebody, whether it was a neighbor, someone at
the Food Pantry or someone she just met.

Monty also loved animals. The family entertained not only goldfish, dogs, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs,
and rabbits, but also a monkey! (The monkey didn’t last more than a day or so.) The reptile family
was not so welcome, in particular snakes! Many a people’s blood has curdled upon Monty’s warning cry
“SNAKE”! (Makes me laugh and cry just thinking about it)

Monty had two brothers, Bud and Bob (Pat), and four sisters, Sis (Paul), Ame (Frank), Bo (John), and Peg
(Freeze). All but Peg have preceded her in death. She has seven grandchildren and five
greatgrandchildren.

Monty’s welcoming nature and “give you the shirt off her back” mentality will be greatly missed.
