Edwin Johnson

We bid farewell to our father, Edwin D. Johnson, born on November 26, 1942.  He passed away from natural causes and a broken heart on January 23, 2025.  He was 82 years old when he was called home to be reunited with his beautiful bride of 61 years.  Ed was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army.  When he came home, he raised 2 sons.  Ed learned and exceled at becoming an offset newspaper pressman.  His positive impact on the community is evident as most people who knew him up close, genuinely liked him.  Ed was also a classic car enthusiast and he enjoyed eating out and blessing the wonderful servers that he encountered.

Ed was born in Maryland and had lived in PA and NJ in the early years where he met the love of his life.  They lived in Venice and subsequently in Sarasota for nearly 40 years and will be greatly missed.  He was married to Pat Johnson and they are now together again, forever, with no pain or suffering.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of generosity, commitment, and a servant’s heart.

Ed is survived by his son David and his daughter-in-law JoAnne.

To remember Ed’s life, family & friends will gather on February 20, 2025.  In lieu of traditional mourning, we simply request the joy of your company, remembering Ed at his best.

He will be laid to rest along with his wife at Sarasota National Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at the same location at 1:30pm on February 20, 2025. 

A Celebration of Life will take place at Park East in Sarasota at 2:30pm, the same day.
