Edward Winstead Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Edward E. Winstead, a beloved father
and husband, on August 27, 2024. Born November 30, 1946, Edward lived a life of
love and unwavering commitment to his family, church, and country.

Edwards life held significant achievements. He proudly served in the army, stationed in
Germany, where he conducted helicopter surveillance at the border. Upon retiring from
the military, he transitioned to the private sector. His dedication and hard work were
evident in his career in telecommunications with South Central Bell and AT&T. After
many years working in the private sector, he moved back to serving his country by
working for the federal government. He retired from the Central Intelligence Agency
after 20 years, leaving a legacy of humor, kindness, and generosity. In addition, he was
a member of the Greater Little Zion Baptist Church of Fairfax, Virginia, where he was a
proud member of the male chorus.

Edward was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Nell, their
daughter, Kristi, and son-in-law, James Bobbett. In addition, he was a proud grandfather
to his grand dog Pepper, who brought immense joy to his life.

Edward had a quiet demeanor but instilled the values of patience, perseverance, hard
work, openness, and loving with your whole heart. He had a dry sense of humor that
would sneak up on you and make you laugh.

A funeral service will be held on September 10th at 11:30 am at Sarasota National
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association in honor of Edward’s memory.

Though you are no longer with us, your spirit and love will continue to be with us. We
love you and miss you, Edward.
