Edward G. Gawlak

Edward G. Gawlak of Sarasota FL passed away on September 4, 2024. Born in
Meriden, Connecticut on March 25, 1932 he was the youngest of 12 children. His
parents George Gawlak and Kathryn Sczepanik Gawlak were immigrants from Poland.
Edward was proud of his heritage and his roots. He had a wonderful picture of his family
of fourteen that he would display and show everyone he met.

Edward served as a Sargeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War.
A proud American and veteran he never stopped supporting the troops and always
would stop and talk to any veteran about their service. Being a Marine was one of his
finest moments.

After the military service, Edward worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, Connecticut, in
the sheet metal experimental department. It was there he formed many lasting
friendships.

After retiring, he moved to Florida to be closer to his daughters Diane Sewell and Lynda
Robinson. Edward loved the beach, fishing, dancing, and gardening. Most of all he
loved helping his friends and neighbors with any kind of projects. There was not a
project he would not tackle.

For the past 20 years he formed loving friendships with his neighbors. A special thank
you to Nivaldo, Maria, Ted, Liz, August and Sharon for the love and support that was
giving to Edward throughout all the years. Especially during his final days.

Edward leaves behind his daughters, Diane Sewell, Sarasota, Lynda Robinson (Don)
Winamac, Indiana, 3 grandsons, Ryan Robinson Winamac, Indiana, Jordan Robinson
Sarasota, Donald Robinson Sarasota, and a great granddaughter Phoebe Robinson of
Sarasota, along with many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Empath Tidewell Hospice and The Springs at Lakepointe Woods staff for
the excellent care that was given to Edward for the past 6 months.
