Donald Reed Schenk

Donald Reed Schenk, 89, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away on October 28, 2023. He was a strong, smart, and humble man. He often gave others credit for his ideas to make their light shine a little brighter. He had a great sense of humor and loved to reel people in with a good BS story. If anyone asked why his sweet corn was the sweetest they ever tasted, he would tell them he put a spoonful of sugar in with each seed.

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bert, his son Dennis, and too many family members to mention.

He is survived by his daughter, Athena Schenk, his granddaughter, Autumn Schenk, his special friend and partner, Olive Cross, and too many family members to mention.

Donald served four years in the Army, cherishing the time he spent in Germany. After his military service, he retired as a Millwright Leader from New Departure (KBI) after forty years. He had many fond memories and shared many great stories from his time there.

He loved gardening and woodworking and was a master handyman who could fix almost anything.
