It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our father Howard Dale Goodrow. Dale, as he was known to his family and friends, was born to Hilton and Vera Goodrow on April 7, 1937.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen Sue, and son Steven. He is survived by his children Beth (Tim) Langness, Michelle (Steve) Crispin, Chris Danielson, Lisa Danielson, and Michael Goodrow. Also by grandchildren Trent, Josh, Jake, Ian and Isabella; Xavier (Heaven) and Cypris (Travis); Logan (Andi), Brandy (Jake) and Grayson; Caitlynne (Robert) and Blake; and great-grandchildren Mason, Lucas, Kelsey and Hunter; Daniel, Bennett, Maple and Killian; Gray, Lyric, Steel and Sunday; Theo; Asher and Rylee.
On his 17th birthday, Dale enlisted in the US Marine Corps, proudly served 4 years, and was honorably discharged on April 6, 1958. In the late 60's he worked as Sleepy the Dwarf at Disneyland in California. Most of his life's work however, was working with people in mental health, substance abuse, and self-regulation. Dale enjoyed cooking and always made extra for any of his kids' friends that might be over; they knew his house was always open to them. He was fond of hunting, fishing, travelling, American muscle cars, "oldies" music, and watching his favorite sports teams: the Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, and of course the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He loved having the wind in his hair, McDonalds, cold coffee, dining out, and especially just spending time with his youngest son Michael. He had a smile that was hard to forget and could melt even the hardest of hearts, and it will be greatly missed. Rest well, Sleepy.
