Charles Keener Obituary

Charles Keener—a man whose presence was a blessing, whose love was steadfast,
and whose legacy will continue to echo through the generations he leaves behind.
Charles “Chuck” was born on February 7, 1964, in Michigan City, Indiana. Though
his life began in the Midwest, his journey eventually led him to North Port, Florida,
where he built a life filled with purpose, family, and pride. He was preceded in death
by his father, Donnie Keener, and his mother, Joann Hroma, and we take comfort in
knowing he is reunited with them now.

He is survived by those who were the center of his world: his children Kristy, Dylan,
and Brandon Keener; his grandchildren—Katlyn, Kira, Kamdyn, and Kendell—and
his great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Kalliope, his brothers David Keener (Jennifer),
Matthew Keener, and Charles Worsham (Tiffanie); and his sister Rachel Hroma his
stepfather Charles Hroma, numerous nephews, nieces, and great friends.

Chuck lived a life of service, strength, and unwavering dedication. He proudly served
our country in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that shaped his
character and reflected his deep sense of duty. After his military service, he continued
to serve others as a Correctional Officer, then worked with the hardworking men and
women of Bethlehem Steel, before ultimately finding his professional home in Florida
as a Regional Sales Manager. No matter the role, Chuck brought integrity, loyalty, and
a work ethic that inspired those around him.

But beyond his service and his career, Chuck’s greatest passion was always his family.
He was a man who celebrated every milestone, every achievement, every success of
his children. His pride in them was immeasurable. He was kind-hearted,
compassionate, and steady—a man who showed up, who listened, who cared deeply.
And of course, anyone who knew Chucks knew his love for football—especially his
beloved Chicago Bears. “Go Bears!” wasn’t just a cheer; it was part of who he was, a
spark of joy that connected him to the people he loved.

Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. His life reminds us
to serve with honor, to love without hesitation, and to cherish the people who walk
beside us. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we are grateful for the years we
were given, and for the memories that will continue to warm us in the days ahead.
Please keep his family in your prayers as they navigate this difficult time. And in lieu
of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chuck’s honor to the Wounded
Warrior Project, an organization that reflects the values he lived by:

May we honor Chuck by living with the same compassion, courage, and devotion that
he showed throughout his life. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a
blessing to all who knew him.
