Bernice (Happy) Babbish Obituary

Bernice Ann ("Happy") Babbish died peacefully in her home in Sarasota on April 17, 2023 after a long illness.  She was born on February 20, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, the second child of Delphine M. and Robert N. Babbish.  She attended Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan, graduating in 1975.  After attending Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan for two years she transferred to Michigan State University.  Her senior year she was admitted to the MSU School of Veterinary Medicine, where, after one year she received her bachelors of science degree, then, in 1982, her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Happy wanted to be a vet from a very young age, always taking care of lost or injured animals around the neighborhood.  After graduation she moved to Blenheim, Texas to be a large animal vet.  From there she moved to Houston, Texas and did large and small animal practice.  A few years ago she retired from daily practice and moved to Sarasota, Florida where she had a smaller specialty practice that encompassed many locations.

Happy is survived by her brother, Byron, her sister-in-law Elaine, her nieces Chelsea Wilde and Brigid Babbish, her nephew Michael Babbish and his wife Kayla Babbish, and her great niece Lucille Babbish and great nephew Theodore Babbish.

Happy requested that there be no memorial service, funeral or visitation.  She is being buried in Detroit next to her parents in a private burial service on April 29, 2023.
