Alan A. Ackerman passed away at his paradise in Longboat Key,Fl. on Friday Jan. 19th at 2:26 A.M. with family with him.. His battle with medical issues in the past few years showed his courage as he never complained.
Alan was born April 13th,1931 to the late Alvin(Al) Ackerman and Lillian (Locher) Ackerman in Peoria,Il.
Alan graduated from Central Central. He then went to the University of Illinois on a track scholarship. Shortly after graduating he was drafted into the United States Army.
Alan married the love of his life Patrica (Becherer) and shortly after moved to Mt. Vernon,IL where Alan was District Manager for Keystone Fencing.
His greatest joy was his family. He especially loved watching "The Greats". Alan also enjoyed attending church at Central or Longboat Chapel.
Alan is survived by his daughter Bea(Larry) His Grands are Amanda (Rick) Tayor of Tamaroa,Il ,Michael (Martha) Nixon of Mt. Vernon,Il.and Riki (Mitchell) Jenkins of Troy,Il. Sister Lynette (Joe) Sauders of Peoria, Il. Alan had 6 Greats,Bailey,Cole,Stella,Finn,Conor and Kaden, He also had a niece and nephew and All the DJA's cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat and his son Rick. A graveside funeral will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on March 2 nd at 2:00. A celebration of life will follow at the Elks.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or Longboat Island Key Chapel in Longboat Key, Fl. in lieu of flowers.
